Painting & Calligraphy |
An important part of Chinese cultural heritage, the traditional Chinese painting is distinguished from Western art in because of the materials used. Paintings are made on xuan paper (or silk) with the Chinese brush, Chinese ink, and mineral and vegetable pigments.
Peking Opera |
Peking Opera is China's national treasure with a history of more than 200 years. In the 55th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1790), the four big Huiban opera Troupes entered the capital and combined with Kunqu opera, Yiyang opera, Hanju opera to create the precursor of today's Peking Opera.
Chinese Music |
Traditional Chinese music can be traced back 7,000 ¨C 8,000 years based on the discovery of a bone flute made in the Neolithic Age. In Chinese music, the single tone is of greater significance than melody; the tone is an important attribute of the substance that produces it.
Because of the impact of material on tone, Chinese musical instruments are separated according to materials into eight different classes.
